thinglets: Dark, Beautiful, and 15 Minutes You'll Be Glad You Spent

I just found this amazing short film on Vimeo called Descendants and had to share it on the LHT. It is twisted and dark but with a very thoughtful ending and a look that is captivating. I am continually impressed with the content creators on Vimeo and their ability to transcend the LOLcat and other Memes of the week.

I know that 15 minutes is a lot to ask for in this world, so instead, give it one minute and I'm betting you'll make the right choice.

thinglets: ‘YEKPARE’ - 8500 Years in 15 Minutes

A visually stunning combination of light, sound, music, architecture and landscape form to create YEKPARE. The art piece seeks to relay the 8500 year history of Istanbul in a mesmerizing, unforgettable way.

I know I've been heavy into the Vimeo lately, but trust me and go to the original page and zoom this up to full screen while watching it. It becomes a rather effective transformer of one's day.

thinglets: a short film about work that made me smile

I know that most people go to YouTube in order to find the populist clips of films, music, and television shows, but between the nfb.ca site and Vimeo, I'm going to YouTube less and less.

Give yourself four minutes to enjoy this third year film project from a Calarts student. I think anyone who's worked in an office can relate. There is just the right balance of pathos before the pay off that I couldn't help but smile. Please check out some great short films at Vimeo some day while you're at work instead of timesucking your breaks on YouTube.
