thinglets: Keeping Tyme on a Typewriter

When music doesn't end at instruments, and everything around you can be played, what might you end up with if you let creativity run wild? A really cool merging of audio, video and, of course, Vimeo.

This audio/video exploration called "Quad Time" by The Joy of Box does rely heavily on digital loop technology, but there has to be some leeway for three guys making tunes in such a unique way.

I really dug it and maybe when you have enough time to kick back and relax for about 7 minutes, you can dig it too.

The LHT Podcast Tribute to Acoustic Guitar

Michael Hedges

I'm a day late on a music podcast this week, but not a dollar short. In fact you're really in for a treat if you are an aficionado of the acoustic guitar because every song in the podcast features the instrument. Some are mellow, some are groovy, some are just downright weird, but the all are wood and wire.

While almost everything else on lovehatethings is Creative Commons, this is not, and if the RIAA, CIRA or any of the artists ask me to take this down, I'll gladly comply. But until then, if you dig it, maybe you'll go and buy it, which will make everyone happy in the end.

lovehate phishcast for a musicmonday

Well, after a couple of months of MusicMonday podcasts, I've decided to enjoy myself. Tomorrow night, I'm going to see my favourite band, Phish, just south of Rochester, NY.

Lovehatethings is often about so many things that I rant and rave at. Today I want to share three songs with you that make me smile. I can say that many songs make me want to join in and sing, some want to make me play air guitar or drums. These three songs simply cause me to break out in an uncontrollable grin.

Apologies all around if you have a hard time getting your head around a three song, 45 minute set of tunes, but maybe something will click and you'll want to hear more.

If only by titles alone, how could you resist Harry Hood, Fluffhead, and Divided Sky?

I hope you dig it even a fraction as much as I do.

thinglets: ‘YEKPARE’ - 8500 Years in 15 Minutes

A visually stunning combination of light, sound, music, architecture and landscape form to create YEKPARE. The art piece seeks to relay the 8500 year history of Istanbul in a mesmerizing, unforgettable way.

I know I've been heavy into the Vimeo lately, but trust me and go to the original page and zoom this up to full screen while watching it. It becomes a rather effective transformer of one's day.

lovehate my kinda 80s podcast

Maybe My Kinda 80s wasn't the same as your kinda 80s. But I didn't listen to synth-poppy dance bands all that much. I listened to ska, alt-rock, and we likes to call "batcaver" music which has since been appropriated as "goth"... sheesh... goth... what's this world coming to?

While almost everything else on lovehatethings is Creative Commons, this is not, and if the RIAA or any of the artists ask me to take this down, I'll gladly comply. But until then, if you dig it, maybe you'll go and buy it, which will make everyone happy in the end.
